Coldstream Clear arose from a simple vision; A vision to create exceptionally great tasting products to enjoy on any occasion
Our mission has always been to produce true-tasting beverages to share with our community. Since 2015, we have remained committed to our mission, but the Coldstream Community has grown farther than we could have ever imagined.
Coldstream began with a love for chemistry, community, and cold beverages. During his time at university, Riley became passionate about both the science and art of distilling. That newfound knowledge, combined with our family’s reputation for throwing a kick-ass party and our strong work ethic, gave birth to Coldstream Clear. Soon after, our whole family took on key positions in the business.
Our family’s first ancestor, Mr. Simon Giffen ran a successful distillery on Tobin Street, in Halifax.

The goal for our first year in business was to produce 1,500 bottles of great-tasting spirits. Today, with the help of our 100+ Coldstream team members, we have expanded our product line from spirits and liqueurs to include iced teas, lemonades, vodka sodas/waters, gin sodas, and beers. We take pride in our diverse portfolio of flavours and the commitment to perfection that has led us here. True taste is what we promise, and rigorous experimentation is how we deliver.
In 2017, our lime vodka soda was the first canned Coldstream product to hit the shelves in Nova Scotia. Many new beverage and flavour innovations later, our Coldstream Community has made us the best-selling ready-to-drink brand in Nova Scotia.
In 2023, we continued our commitment to beverage innovation by producing our lager and light beer. Through meticulous research and investing in state-of-the-art equipment, we created a clean and pure lager brewed to be the gold standard for beer loyalists. Our expansion into brewing is just one example of the continued innovation that has made us an industry leader in Nova Scotia, surpassing even global brands for most sales in the province.
Coldstream began with a proud family inspired to make tasty products to share with fellow Nova Scotians, but it quickly became so much more than a beverage company. Our customers’ belief in us rapidly formed a community that has stretched far beyond even the Atlantic Coast. Today, we are proud to welcome Canadians from East to West into not only the Coldstream Community, but our extended family.
In 2015, we opened our doors on our family’s property on Coldstream Road. Not long after, we invited you into our conveniently located retail store in Stewiacke, NS. Whether you’re heading to Cape Breton, PEI, New Brunswick, or beyond by air, our Stewiacke location is the perfect pit-stop en route to your destination.
Now with additional locations in Dartmouth and Antigonish, we are saving a seat for Canadians from East to West to enjoy the Coldstream Experience in person. As our family continues to grow, we are excited to be able to share the Coldstream Experience with even more of our community. Coldstream may look different from when we first began in 2015, but our desire to share good times and great-tasting beverages with our community remains the same. You will always be welcome to stop in and enjoy our unique cocktail flights featuring our delicious specialty spirits and sample all the delicious flavours we have to offer.
